SYMBOL OF INDIAN CURRENCY NOTE 


we will study about  symbol,language panel and theme of indian currency notes.Let us first  talk  about indian rupee symbol :this is the symbol of indian rupee.It is designed using devanagari letter 'Ra' and Roman capital letter 'R'.  without its vertical bar at the top of the symbol. The two horizontal lines form an "equal's sign,which  evokes the tri-color Indian flag.and also depicts the nation's desire to reduce economic disparity.



The symbol was  dsigned  by Udaya Kumar,who is an Associate Professor in IIT GuwahatiMinistry of Finance and Department of Economic Affairs of the Govt of India approved the sign.The approval was given by Sushil Kumar, Under Secretary of the Government of India.and finally  it was presented to the public on 15 July 2010.

in order to type this symbol all you have to do is  download a special font named Rupee Foradian.
you can download this font by visiting  the secure link provided   below :
 

 After installing this font open ms word and select indian rupee  in the font tab:




 or go to the insert tab and click symbol tab here you can see the  character code tab. in this tab just enter unicode character U+20B9.  




you can also asign the short cut key for the symbol as shown on the screen.




Now lets talk about languages and lagnuage  panel. as we are heading towards studying language panel of new series of indian currency notes.let me ask you a Simple general knowledge question :
Q : when and under whose government the demonetization policy come into effect  ?

OFFICIAL LANGUAGES ON INDIAN RUPEE NOTE 




there are total   22 official languages  mentioned in the 8th schedule of indian constitution. 





and out of those 22 official languages  ,17 languages are used to print denomination of indian currency notes. 16  offical languages have been taken from  the 8th schedule and  plus  english  as additional offical language which  is of course not a part of the Eighth Schedule. 


the printing of 17 languages on indian currency notes signify  linguistic diversity of our country.now there arises another gk  question what are those remaining 6 offical languages which are not included in the indian currency notes.These languages are:

     1 Bodo
    2 Dogri
    3 Manipuri
   4  Maithili
    5 Santhali
    6 Sindhi

the language panel is present on the reverse side of the indian currency notes and it displays  denomination of the note in  15 official languages excluding hindi and english here on the screen you can see the language panel of 10 rupee note so from top to bottom these languages are :
1).Assamese 2.Bengali 3.Gujrati 4.kannada5.Kashmiri 6.konkani 7.Malayalam 8.Marathi 9.Nepali 10.Oriya 11.Punjabi 12.Sanskrit 13.Tamil 14.Telugu 15. Urdu.




THEME OF INDIAN RUPEE NOTE

  
The theme of the new series notes is India’s cultural  heritage sites.the beautiful images of heritage sites are printed on the reverse side of the currency notes to  the right  of language panel.let us see which heritage sites are printed on different currency notes.fantastic  image of sun temple of konark is printed  on ten rupee note which is a 13th century Sun Temple (also known as the Black Pagoda),
 at Konark, in Orissa.. The temple is an example of architecture of Orissa from Ganga dynasty .The temple is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.



A World Heritage Site is a  legally protected significant  landmark or area selected by the (UNESCO).UNESCO   stands for  United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization .


  

20 rs note bears the motif of ellora caves.Ellora is a UNESCO World Heritage Site located in the Aurangabad district of Maharashtra, India.




Ellora caves  is one of the largest rock-cut monastery  complexes in the world, featuring   the magnificent  monument art work of Buddhism, Hindism and Jainism.
stone chariot of humpi is printed on 50 rupee noteThe splendid  site of Hampi was the last capital of the last great Hindu Kingdom of Vijayanagar.this site is located in the bellary district of central karnataka.



100 rs note displays the motif of rani ki vav as heritage site .Rani ki Vav  is a stepwell situated in the town of Patan in Gujarat state of India.. It has been listed as one of UNESCO's World Heritage Sites.
 the stepwell is divided into seven levels of stairs with several sculptural panels and represent  religious, mythological and secular imagery. 



200 rs note contains the motif of  sanchi stupas Sanchi Stupa is a Buddhist complex, famous for its Great Stupa, on a hilltop at Sanchi Town in Raisen District of the State of Madhya Pradesh,.it is also a UNESCO's world heritage site 




the motif red fort is printed on 500 rs note this unesco world heriage site is a historic fort in the city of Delhi , which served as the main residence of the Mughal Emperors.




lastly the motif of  mangalyaan is printed on the 2000 currency note to reveal india's achievement  in space exploration.and isro's space success can never be conceived without mentioning  the misile man of india , man of character ,honorable  the former president APJ abdul kalam.
